Project 354: Week 9

Now that I am not blogging, I find so many other things to keep me busy that for days I don’t even go onto the internet. (Work doesn’t count as that is… well, work)

Week 9
Week 9
  1. I had a shocking day at work and I could feel that the stress was affecting me. I suffer from low blood pressure – but my reading was high because of work that day. Worst day of 2014 so far.
  2. The relieve some stress the following day; a colleague and I went to a little deli for lunch, such a pretty view. (There was a cat in that frame, he ran away as I snapped the pic)
  3. The sun was setting on my way home and it was hitting the cloud at just the right angle.
  4. Besides my bloodshot eye – I had fun with this photo – you can see me, reflected in my eye.
  5. Squeaky is 10 years old and he may not be a fighter, but his big paws will protect him if he needs it.
  6. Jozi has areas where the walls are painted black and talented graffiti artists express themselves.
  7. When I saw this tree, I just knew it would look great in a grainy B&W.

5 Things I Can’t Live Without…

Untitled-1

  1. My Cat – He knows when I am sad. He cheers me up when I am sad. He loves me unconditionally.
  2. My family/friends – My parents are my rock and my pillar. I cannot even imagine how different my life would have been without there love and support. They do not judge me, they have never hurt me & they are always there for me
  3. One Direction – Oh snigger away. These guys are more than a boy band with a fun rock/pop melody. They are wildly famous, yet down to earth. They make me happy. I could watch hours of interviews with them for their quirky sense of humour. I even had my parents watching them for a few hours (without complaining)
Watch their new documentary This is Us (Directed by Morgan Spurlock of SuperSize Me fame) and then tell me you don’t like them.
The only thing they have in common with Justin Bieber is their age. Otherwise the have manners and are not spoilt brats.
Apart from 1D, I just can’t do without music in my life. I have to listen to music – whether it is angry rock, or calming soothing songs, or something light and happy – there is hardly ever a time when you will find me sitting in silence.
  4. My camera – These photos I take today will be the memories of my tomorrow and the memories for my future generations. A legacy of who I was and where they came from. I want my nephew to look back at all my travels and adventures and be proud of who I was and remember me for what I was regardless of who I may become.
It is also important for me to remember my life should anything ever happen to me (Alzheimers, demetia etc)
  5. My cellphone – I could not go very long without my link to the world. Whatsapp conversations with my friends. Instagram – to keep in touch with the world through pictures. Facebook and Twitter. Google (how else would I know how to boil the perfect egg?) Also a handy backup to take photos when my camera is at home. A music player when the radio is being boring. My constant companion!
What can you not live without?

Meouw, Meouw MEOUW, MEOUW!!

My kitty cat Squeaky (real name: Galileo) is the apple of my eye.

He is 9 years old and I have had him since he was 7 weeks old.

20130616_164147I got him and his related brother Boomie (real name: Da Vinci)) together, but Squeaky was always the mommy’s boy, while Boomie liked to explore.

4 years ago Boomie disappeared. He was never found.

Squeaky became my sole companion, save for a persian houseguest who lived with us for a few months.

I have moved house so many times with Squeaky that I have lost count.

I am now in my own place and I am so happy here. But Squeaky doesn’t seem to be. All he does is cry…and cry… and cry.

Sometimes I will find him lying on the floor just meowing in general. It is beginning to drive me insane! I walk with him every night through the complex and I leave the door open for him (Brrrrr) until I go to bed.

As I type this, I can hear him meouwing as he walks around the complex.

The only time he stops is when I am stroking him or we are at the scratch pole together.

Could he be lonely? I am only allowed 1 pet, so a companion is out of the question. I work long hours. Maybe he is just really lonely?

I have consulted various animal behavioural sites and they say to ignore him when he cries. But what if he is crying because he is telling me that he is lonely?

He has never cried like this before. Even when living with the Persian cat, he was unhappy, but never this vocal.

It has been 3 months now.

What is going on??

The Simple Things

Blog everyday in May- Day 9: A moment in your day (this can be just a photo or both a photo and words)

I was waiting for a friend to come over for lunch so I fluffed the cushions and sat on them to make them a bit flat.  Squeaky has been following me around the whole morning and decided it was his queue to have a nap on my lap.
It’s nice to know that he loves his mommy so much!
