21 Things About Me #8

Who knew it would be this difficult to blog once a week!?

I keep promising myself that I will give blogging a serious try again, yet somehow life gets in the way. Here is my commitment to you – I will Try Harder

This is me being serious

What is your Go-To Song?

For an avid music lover such as myself, this is not a very easy question.

I have a variety of songs that I just have to play to get myself in/out of a mood.

If I have had a really bad day: Happily – One Direction
If I am feeling like some love: Mirrors – Justin Timberlake
If I am needing energy: Cuckoo – Adam Lambert
If I am feeling the need for some anger release: Not Over You – Daughtry
If I am in a really good mood: She looks so perfect – 5SOS / Can We Dance – The Vamps

Having said that –
My all time favourite love song: Running Away – Eden
My all time favourite happy song: What Makes you Beautiful – One Direction

Friends

I love my friends – all of them – because they are hand-picked by me to be in my life.

I am especially loving my girls who have recently been there for me without even knowing it.

This past long weekend we have seen alot of each other & it really has been fun.

My weekend went something like this:

    My obsession: Johan
  • Went to the last ever performance of Eden – was bittersweet. Was awesome when Jay saw me in the crowd & excitedly waved at me and the entire audience turned as one to see Who on earth ? he was waving at. Tee & I have had many fun evenings watching Our Boys & we have tons of self-portraits to show for it
  • Watched Limitless – what an awesome movie.  Bradley Cooper is a hottie, but I enjoyed the way he portrayed his character. Lunch at Fego Cafe and shopping at Woolies afterwards.I have a long list of things I need for the house: Blind for bathroom, storage for bath towels, new duvet cover, new lampshade
  • Watched The Back up Plan & 17 Again because Tee twisted my rubber arm & I do so like me a bit of Zac.
  • Went through to a school friend’s wedding (this was the dilemma on an outfit to wear) I ended up wearing a Ginger Mary dress I had just bought for work as the weather was cold. It was perfect & I got some nice compliments. (After trying the Big Blue skirt on, my fat hips made it look frumpy – however as per my original promise, I did say the person to help me most would receive a photo and see who the real Flirty30 is – winner: keep an eye out!)
  • Caught up after the wedding with dinner with some friends & slept at my parents house
  • Noah came to visit & spent the entire day playing with him. Afterwards, mom cut my hair into the new style which I am loving
  • Shopping at Melrose Arch with some delicious milkshakes at the Protea Fire & Ice
  • Had sushi dinner at YuMe – their Dim Sum and Salmon Roses are to die for
  • Got together at Design Quarter & did some serious shopping. I found a lampshade, duvet cover, bathroom blind & basket for bath towels.

  • To reward ourselves we went to 1 of my favourite places: Buddha Ta. They have a specialty Mojito called a Candy Mojito. I can’t even tell you how divine it is. You get a martini glass of Candy Floss and the mojito gets poured on top of it and the candyfloss melts. It is such a treat & just Too Divine
  • Ended it off with more sushi at CTFM with my friend T – her & her husband are going through the process of adoption as they are unable to have children of their own. They have asked me to help them create a profile for when they are picked as a possible match. The natural mother reads all their profiles and picks them that way. So I want to design a storybook written as kiddies story: Once upon a time there was a girl named T…. she met G and they fell in love….. I think that will be fun.
  • Throughout the weekend I laughed so hard with my girls. I am so blessed to have them in my life & to be able to share everything with them – the good & the bad.
  • I have booked a table at my favourite restaurant in Parys: Ruby’s.(Another one of my birthday traditions) We’ll be donning our feather boas and having a girls day out – Mom, Tee, AC, Li & myself.

Eden – Running Away

Everyone always asks me about Eden – my all time favourite South African Band.

Starting out as a boy-band – they soon developed their own style and are now a Band. Nothing boyish about them.

Sexy and talented – Johan Vorster writes all the songs for the group – winning a SAMA (South African Music Award) and numerous other awards and nominations.
Johan and Sean own their own Record company – Mozi Records and have produced a number of successful South African artists – Bok Van Blerk and Lianie May to name a few.

They made it big in 2001 with a song called Point of No Return – everybody thinking it was a Westlife song.

They branched out into the Afrikaans market and have been really successful, with all their albums going platinum.

Above is my all time favourite Eden song called Running Away – written about a band member (Sean Else – the shaven blonde guy in the video no longer with them) and the tumultuous relationship he had with his ex girlfriend and mother of his child – the passion is so easy to feel.

Johan is my absolute favourite – I adore him – he is quiet, intelligent and so sexy. He is the guy who gets shot right in the beginning…. Enjoy! (*Seems the link doesn’t always work – check out my video bar above, or search them on YouTube)

First verse:
You speak of love, I speak of passion – how can it be the same thing
You turn out the light when I want to watch you, you say we all want the same thing.
But you can’t find the words in the air that surrounds you
And in your silence you drown
Know I’m not saying these things just to hurt you – but thats just the way we are.

My knees go weak as I sing the song in my head – too beautiful….

Another Eden Gig!

Eden… again! You read right! 🙂
People always ask me if I get bored of seeing the guys – but how can you get bored of being entertained? Each time the show is different because each time the crowd interaction is different. The vibe is always a great one, the guys are full of energy and so much fun. They have such funny jokes too – makes me laugh! 🙂

I chatted to Johan a bit as well – he just fascinates me that man! So sexy and very intelligent. His girlfriend is so lucky!
Paulo is a great guy – he always compliments me and he seems to know just when I need it too. What a Honey!
Jay is a ball of fun – always full of life and lots of smiles! What is also so great about Eden is that they are all decent well mannered guys – goes a long way to enjoying their music and their show!

Will be seeing them tomorrow as well – yes obsessive I know, but ask any Eden fan and they will tell you:
You can’t get too much of an EDEN thing!

Eden @ Firkins

Last night I was at another Eden concert at Firkins Pub in Centurion. The show was electric! There was such a vibe and the energy was great!

Jay has got the sparkle back in his eye & he was looking quite sexy too. He has a phenomonal voice – his version of The One and Only really gets the energy levels up.
Paulo was dancing and entertaining us – he is always such a fun guy.
Johan was a bit more subdued. He has the most amazing smile that lights up his entire face – and when he is enjoying himself he shines. Last night he was bit more distant.

They have a new dance for Is Jy Bang – it is so cute – they have this little bum wiggle that I love!

They sang a lot of their new songs from the CD that will be out soon – it was great to hear them live and they sang some of the older favourites.

Johan’s girlfriend was there last night – Renscha – she is a beautiful girl! Dark hair and light skin and magnificent blue eyes. They look so much in love! They have been together about 8 or 9 months. They were hugging and kissing each other the entire night and they both looked so happy. It is beautiful to see such love between 2 people!

I am lucky I have a lot of friends to go with me to every show! None of them are as crazy as I am about Eden so they aren’t too keen to go to every single show! Only my mom would, but she lives about 90km from me – not always easy for her to get to me.
So I am lucky I have different people to accompany me to different shows! So far all of them have loved the shows. I think they all come expecting some mediocre boy band – instead they get these 3 sexy guys who can sing beautifully and dance up a storm!

I only got to bed at 2am this morning! I could do with a bit of sleep! I didn’t eat very much yesterday and had way too many shooters and drinks. The Eden boys bought us a shooter and we had a couple more – Shaun bought me one called TNT – Absinthe, Jack Daniels, Black Sambuca and Stroh Rum. Vile Vile Vile! That knocked me for a loop. I could barely walk straight – I was still drunk when I woke up this morning! Luckily I don’t get hangovers! ha ha ha!
But tonight I am having an early night. Over the last 3 days I have only had about 17 hours of sleep!

Another Eden Concert!

Last Friday my mom, my friend Michelle & I travelled all the way to Vanderbijlpark for Eden’s 2nd CD Launch.

It was an amazing evening! The guys were all in high spirits and they were fantastic! Probably one of the best Eden concerts I have been to!
They have re-done The one & Only by Chesney Hawkes (1 of my all time favourite songs) and all their new songs are out of this world! I am hard pressed to choose my favourite – but I think Running Away is beautiful!

After the show I got to chat at length to Johan and Paulo and it was great getting to know the guys better. Johan told me I was looking good – twice! He even noticed I’d cut about 2cms off my hair – he made my evening!

I have never listened to Afrikaans before, but Eden are the exception. The words are beautiful! You just want to dance to the fast songs or cry in the love songs! There is an afrikaans song called As ek voor jou breek. Johan sings it – you can hear the raw emotion in his voice! It made me cry! The first time a song has ever made me cry!

I bought the CD and now I am loving it!

(I swear I should just go and work for them – no-one is as passionate about these guys as I am!)

My Weekend

So I had a great weekend…..

On Sat morning Bradyn & I went to watch The Da Vinci Code – thought it was really good! I enjoyed it because when I was reading the book I was travelling through Europe and got to see a lot of the places.

Then I went to Sandton City to have lunch with Soulla and fetched my mom. We went to see Eden on Saturday night in Pretoria with Lynette and Soulla.

I met a new Eden fan. We got on so well and she is also a Johan fan. (Good taste!) Her name is Bianca and she is 11! Ha ha ha!

The show consisted of some of the oldies all their new songs… Running Away is too beautiful – makes me want to cry!

Sean wasn’t there and it was a bit sad.

Johan has the flu but he was in a really good mood – and he was looking particularly hot – his muscles were rippling under his shirt and I almost fainted when his shirt lifted and I saw his tummy!

Chatted to the guys after the show and got some great photos again – I am always amazed at how well mannered these guys are! True gentlemen at all times.

And I am always amazed at just how much I love & adore Johan!! J Pity he isn’t single though… darn it.

On Sunday mom & I had breakfast then went to Linky for mom to do a hair trial for the wedding. She is going to look stunning!
