Manicure Monday: Swirl It

I think my Manicure heading should be “The Dexter Edition”
I loved the idea of this swirly pattern I found on Pinterest:

Swirly nails

Sounds easy enough – so let’s do it!
This was the result:

Looks like blood spatter, did Dexter get hold of my nails?

The results are random, so I suppose the key is to experiment with different colours etc.

Manicure Monday: Ombre Take 2

I loved the Ombre the 1st time I tried it HERE.

This time I wanted to try it again using a wet sponge (This definitely made it easier to apply)

I also reversed the colours to fade out to white – almost like a french manicure.

To finish it off, I added a top layer of subtle sparkle.

Subtle Ombre

This would look nice for Christmas with a red nail faded to white and perhaps a bit of Christmas glitter. I might just give it a try for the holiday period, what do you think?
I think the Ombre is one of my favourite nail art techniques so far because there are just so many colour combinations that can be tried.

Manicure Monday: Pink Bling

I am afraid time has gotten the better of me these past few weeks.

Today’s manicure is fairly simple. It does have sparkles – my NYC Pink Bling nail polish courtesy of Christina (Snail Mail Collective) all the way from Texas.
If you know me, you know I am always game for sparkles/glitter/shiny things!

Pink Bling
Using my Ralo Cosmetics Matt Pink polish, I added a little bit of the Pink Bling from the cuticles, half way down the nail for a subtle sparkle.
Simple. But Effective.

Manicure Monday: Negative Spaces

Late 1 night while randomly reading some articles, I came across a nail art post that mentioned “negative space” and thought this would be something different.

Once again I cannot remember the website/blog that inspired me, but here is my take on Negative Space Nail Art.

I used:

Catrice Fred Said Red (Gorgeous shade)

OPI Is that Silvafor the accent line

Prep nails with a base coat, then I cut tape and stuck over the cuticle and part of the nail.

Add another piece of tape over the end of the nail leaving a thin strip bared and paint the accent line.

Wait to dry fully.

Stick tape over dried accent line and paint the rest of the nail.

Finish with Top Coat and Voila!

Manicure Monday – Summer Sorbet

I’m not sure if this counts as a manicure, but it looks pretty, it’s a nail polish & it’s on my nails – so yes, I think it counts!

Ralo

These colours are perfect for Summer and are in deliciously pastel shades reminiscent of sorbet on the beach.Ralo Mani

The polish has a thin watery consistency, so I had to apply 3 coats to get an opaque colour.

I was a bit put out by this; until I was researching their online shop for the names of the shades (Why only print a number underneath?) and realised how affordable they were! A bottle retails for about R27.50 – bargain!

The matte coral and matte pink are very pretty, but need a Matte topcoat to get the effect. Either way – I think you will be seeing these colours in future posts a lot!

Ralo’s sparkle & shimmer shades look very pretty as well. Check out their online store for all the ranges and colours they have to offer

Manicure Monday: Summer sorbet colours

I’m not sure if this counts as a manicure, but it looks pretty, it’s a nail polish & it’s on my nails – so yes, I think it counts!

The generous Ralo Cosmetics sponsored us an entire range of nail polish colours at the #JhbBloggerMeetup.

These colours are perfect for Summer and are in deliciously pastel shades reminiscent of sorbet on the beach.
