21 Things About Me #8

Who knew it would be this difficult to blog once a week!?

I keep promising myself that I will give blogging a serious try again, yet somehow life gets in the way. Here is my commitment to you – I will Try Harder

What is your Go-To Song?

For an avid music lover such as myself, this is not a very easy question.

I have a variety of songs that I just have to play to get myself in/out of a mood.

If I have had a really bad day: Happily – One Direction

If I am feeling like some love: Mirrors – Justin Timberlake

If I am needing energy: Cuckoo – Adam Lambert

If I am feeling the need for some anger release: Not Over You – Daughtry

If I am in a really good mood: She looks so perfect – 5SOS / Can We Dance – The Vamps

Having said that –

My all time favourite love song: Running Away – Eden

My all time favourite happy song: What Makes you Beautiful – One Direction

5 Things I Can’t Live Without…

Untitled-1

  1. My Cat – He knows when I am sad. He cheers me up when I am sad. He loves me unconditionally.
  2. My family/friends – My parents are my rock and my pillar. I cannot even imagine how different my life would have been without there love and support. They do not judge me, they have never hurt me & they are always there for me
  3. One Direction – Oh snigger away. These guys are more than a boy band with a fun rock/pop melody. They are wildly famous, yet down to earth. They make me happy. I could watch hours of interviews with them for their quirky sense of humour. I even had my parents watching them for a few hours (without complaining)
Watch their new documentary This is Us (Directed by Morgan Spurlock of SuperSize Me fame) and then tell me you don’t like them.
The only thing they have in common with Justin Bieber is their age. Otherwise the have manners and are not spoilt brats.
Apart from 1D, I just can’t do without music in my life. I have to listen to music – whether it is angry rock, or calming soothing songs, or something light and happy – there is hardly ever a time when you will find me sitting in silence.
  4. My camera – These photos I take today will be the memories of my tomorrow and the memories for my future generations. A legacy of who I was and where they came from. I want my nephew to look back at all my travels and adventures and be proud of who I was and remember me for what I was regardless of who I may become.
It is also important for me to remember my life should anything ever happen to me (Alzheimers, demetia etc)
  5. My cellphone – I could not go very long without my link to the world. Whatsapp conversations with my friends. Instagram – to keep in touch with the world through pictures. Facebook and Twitter. Google (how else would I know how to boil the perfect egg?) Also a handy backup to take photos when my camera is at home. A music player when the radio is being boring. My constant companion!
What can you not live without?

Just say yes!

Since watching Friends with Benefits and seeing how JT planned the Flashmob, I thought that was a pretty cool way to be proposed to.

I am a hopeless romantic and I do love watching cute things like this!

This would be so much fun and I can just imagine my friends and family all taking part in something like this.

Except it would be a One Direction song…. the perfect proposal!

Happiness is

The Birthday Week that Was

My birthday celebrations started on Monday night and lasted for 3 nights (technically 4 if you count the fact that tonight I have been online catching up and chilling – something I needed)

Monday night: Madame Zingara

I have wanted to do this for so long, but the the price of the tickets was a bit of a turn off. I am so glad I finally went. The opulence and effort put into the set up and design; never mind the talent & awesome food was so worth it.

The waiters are all dressed up in various costumes and most of the audience have at least 1 or another type of dress up item on.

Mom and I bought a cute little hat that I think will be making an appearance for a few occasions because I love it so much 🙂

The acts include a 3 man balancing act who are amazing, a contortionist who I had to see to believe, 3 drag queens who can sing so well & a few other fun acts. The show closes with a fun rendition of Time Warp – which reminded me that I really want to see the Rocky Horror Picture show again 🙂

I got to open presents from my parents & I was spoiled with a pair of Guess heart earrings (hearts are my favourite shape, Guess is my favourite “I Want” brand)

I also was lucky enough to get 3 OPI nailpolishes. The pink, sparkly one is called Princesses Rule – how apt is that?

Seen in the picture below is the cute little hat I bought – my mom has a purple variation.

On Tuesday, my 2 bosses sang happy birthday over the phone, which was really sweet 🙂

Tee gave me an awesome start to my day, with a 1D birthday card – she even managed to include 3 pictures I have not seen before (that is no mean feat of it’s own!)

Another friend also sent me a 1D birthday wish (and she is the one who teases me the most) I love how she randomly scratched out the name Ashley – ha ha ha!

A work colleague surprised me with a nice bottle of Alto, another colleague gave me a pretty cellphone charm and compact mirror and 2 other ladies gave me money to put towards my coffee machine.

That night (after working late instead of leaving at 12:00) I was late for my own party. I was so upset after the truly terrible day, that I contemplated cancelling the evening, but the girls were already on their way, so I had to go. I am glad I did in the end.

The girls and I went to my favourite steak restaurant – HQ.

We all wore feather boas – a tradition I think I might carry through – it started last year at my party in Parys and I like the boas, they are fun and make for colourful pictures.

The girls also spoiled me with @Home vouchers to put towards my coffee machine and Tee took it 1 step further and included a magazine with One Direction posters and an interview.

Tee’s mom bought me a lovely necklace, also a gift that was so unexpected, and such a lovely surprise.

I love that my friends know me so well to know what will make me grin like an idiot smile

JR arranged for a colleague to buy me a bunch of flowers because he was in Cape Town – how sweet is that?

On Wednesday night, my friend TT took me out for sushi and wine and I was lucky enough to get another present: a gorgeous purple snood. I am looking forward to wearing it tomorrow now that the weather has become rather chilly. The colour is perfect, as most of my wardrobe this season is purple and grey.

So I really have been a spoilt girl.

The best part about birthdays – besides being spoiled with presents – is the people who put special thought into writing a nice letter or picking out a simple gift, but putting thought into it.

This is the time where I see who my true friends are. And I must tell you, I am a very lucky lady.

Glee: What Makes You Beautiful cover

It’s odd how I hardly hear anything about Glee and then suddenly in the same week, Tee sends me a Hot video of Matt Bomer singing a duet of Gotye’s Somebody That I Used to Know & then I get the Glee version of What Makes You Beautiful by my boys One Direction.

It is amazing how many covers of WMYB are out there – they just prove again and again why they deserved to beat Adele & win that Brit.

Birthday Wishlist

My 33rd birthday is coming up at the end of May & I have my eye on a few things:

Taking me from Chants to Marvellous Chants:

Awesome Nespresso Essenza coffee machine from @Home. Only R1799

This awesome wine rack – I want a nice wooden wine rack.

I have already ordered my personalised copy of this:
